The
most important principle
of success? Very Simple!
GET RID OF EXCUSES!
In the last training
email we discussed that
fact that no matter
where you came from, no
matter where you are,
right now, today you can
start making choices and
decisions that can
dramatically improve
your life and your
future. But it requires
not just reading and
"knowing" these truths,
it requires
internalizing them so
that they are a part of
you to the point that
you naturally react in a
way that comports with
them. Want a
better life? Get Rid of
Excuses.
No Matter What Happens-
No
Excuses! Everyone
has reasons for non
achievement. Get rid
of them!
Take
responsibility for your
circumstances- -
Are
you not where you should
be because everyone let
you down?
Stop depending on
them. Choose new
partners or rely more on
yourself. The
bottom line, is
you can never control
your destiny until you
acknowledge that
you are in
control of it.
You control your every
decision, choice and
action. Blaming outside
circumstances or fate
for your situation
simply lays the
foundation for never
ending excuses and
repeated failure.
When we truly
take responsibility;
When we accept that
we ARE in control,
it's as if blinders are
removed so that we can
more clearly see and
begin taking advantage
of them myriad of
opportunities that
abound. Realize, this
doesn't mean that things
won't go wrong. They
will. What it means is
ACCEPT IT AND DEAL
WITH IT.
Unfortunately, LIFE
HAPPENS!
When
it does we must not let
is distract us from your
goals. We must be
able to deal
with the present,
focus on the
future and forget
the past!
Control Your Focus!
As I
have said since I was
about 19...
"Life is not as it
should be... It simply
is as it is".
Once we acknowledge
that, it becomes much
easier to make rational
decisions based on
reality
rather than making
decisions that are based
on how you wish things
were. We all make
mistakes, but I'
m not
talking about
mistakes... I'
m talking
about self delusion.
All
too often we
purposefully ignore
evidence of inconvenient
facts that we just
don't want to believe.
We don't want them to be
true so we ignore them.
This leads to disaster.
You may want to
be able to trust your
partners...
but if you have
indications, otherwise,
act accordingly; don't
trust them.
And if you ignore your
gut and it goes bad?
BLAME YOURSELF!
If we
see the world and
circumstances as they
"should" be, rather than
as "they are"... we are
living in a fantasy
world. We are
making decisions based
false information. That
is a recipe for heart
ache and ruin.
Remember,
"Life is not as it
should be... It simply
is as it is".
Learn to acknowledge
reality.
Decisions based on
anything other than your
best effort at an
honest,
realistic assessment
of actual reality,
rarely accomplish your
desired results.
EMBRACE REALITY AND DEAL
WITH IT
From this day forward,
take responsibility for
who you are and the
choices you've made and
more importantly, THE
CHOICES YOU MAKE IN THE
FUTURE. Your
personal history may be
replete with
heartbreaking tragedy.
But that is your
past. We are now
concerned with your
future!
It doesn't matter where
you were born, that you
were a abused child or
came from a broken home,
or dropped out of high
school, etc...
even if you
can honestly say, "but
look at my childhood,
it's all I ever knew...
",
guess what?
By simply acknowledging
your past as an excuse
for
BAD choices,
you are also
admitting that you know
there
are better choices
that you could have made...
AND THE QUALITY OF
YOUR IS IN YOUR
CONTROL... WHY?
BECAUSE YOU CAN START
MAKING BETTER CHOICES
RIGHT NOW!
No matter what
happened in the past,
it's up to us to OWN
our destiny. Get rid of
excuses and
start making better
choices and decisions.
To that and we will
immediately begin
getting better results!
NOT SMART ENOUGH???
DON't BELIEVE IT FOR A
SECOND!!!
A focused, hard working,
average intellect will
beat a lazy genius EVERY
TIME. Intelligence does
not matter- - Now, don't
get me wrong, if you
have an IQ of 75 you
will not become a world
renowned cardiovascular
surgeon.
But there are few
excuses that are used so
often to justify bad
circumstance, while
actually being of so
little consequence as
"I'm just not smart
enough".
Intelligence is
profoundly overrated.
WHAT YOU DO is
infinitely more
important than WHAT YOU
KNOW. Your
willingness to learn
what you need to know is
were it's at.
Take the time to
learn... Then act upon
it, with consistent
intelligent effort.
THE WILLINGNESS TO
LEARN AND THEN ACT
is
incomparably
more important than the
ABILITY to learn the
many things that most
people won't do anyway!
It's not about
intellect. It's
Always About Action.
Remember, what you know
is means little.
It's what you DO that
counts!
With the incredible
technology of today,
great success can be
accomplished with very
AVERAGE intellect. What
is required, however, is
an ABOVE AVERAGE work
ethic and willingness to
act.
One of my favorite
sayings is...
GREAT IDEAS ARE
WORTHLESS... UNLESS
COMBINED WITH POSITIVE
ACTION.
Think
about it... in your
lifetime, how many great
ideas have you or
someone you know come up
with and maybe even
discussed it with
others? But
you did it over a beer
and did not act upon it.
Then later you see
someone on TV making
their fortune with
"your" idea!
The GREATNESS of
the idea is not the
key... It's action.
ACTION! ACTION!
ACTION!
ASN
was a GREAT IDEA. It is
a GREAT Company. But
what would it have been
without action? Nothing!
The light bulb was a
pretty good idea.
But what would it
be without action?
It wasn't easy, but
Edison knew there had
to be a way to make
it work. He
continued on in spite of
failure after failure!
In fact, that great idea
did not become reality
until it was combined
with literally
over 10,000
FAILED
experiments!
Until and unless someone
else decided to take up
the monumental task of
failing10,000 times, the
world would have
remained in the dark!
REALLY
STUPID IDEAS
Realize, great ideas
don't have to originate
from a brilliant mind.
Ever heard of the pet
rock?! One of the most
STUPID ideas ever.
A rock in a box that
sold millions!
Ever used a sticky note?
Ever see an ugly wall
mounted "Singing Fish"?
How about a Chia Pet?
None of these required
an Einstein intellect...
But they all made
millions!
It doesn't take
brilliance... just an
unusual idea with a
market,
and ACTION.
Never forget...
"If you always do what
you've always done,
you'
ll always get what
you always got".
Want to make a change?
Want more out of life?
New results, require new
choices and new
actions!...
And like Edison,
NEVER be afraid to
fail... Failure is an
integral part of the
success process.
WITH ACTION COMES
FAILURE.
If you never fail--
you'
re not trying hard
enough...
(Steve
Jobs). As I have
historically admonished
my sales force on an
almost daily basis...
"If you are not putting
yourself in a position
to fail... you
are not
putting yourself in a
position to succeed!"
If
you act, you will
occasionally fail.
Period! You
might even fail a
lot; It's part of the
success process.
Edison literally
"failed" over 10,000
times while working to
create the light bulb.
But he had the right
idea and the right
attitude.
He wasn't done
until he won.
When he was asked about
his incredible number of
failures, he said, and
this is a direct
quote...
"I have not
failed 10,000 times.
I've successfully
found 10,000 ways that
it won't work!"
Success and
failure are flip sides
of the same coin.
If you try too hard to
avoid failure, you will
NEVER
enjoy meaningful success
in anything.
Not business and not
relationships. Do
Not Fear Failure. It's
more that an aphorism
when I tell you that "every time you fail
brings you one step
closer to success!"
From every failure, if
you let it, it will
teach you something.
Analyze it, what did you
do right, what could you
have done better.
How do you avoid that
issue in the future.
The success process
is universal...
Fail. Learn.
Try again. Fail.
Learn more. Do
again. SUCCEED.
That's
how it works.
Fail and fail often.
It's the only way to a
great success.
HOW DO YOU REACT?
Reacting the Right
Way is even more
important than Doing
the Right Thing.
No matter
what you do, no matter
how well you prepare,
and no matter how well
you do it...
Sometimes things will go
wrong. A
deal will fall apart.
The "in the bag" sale
won't happen. Your
job promotion goes to
someone else. Your
business flounders. The
can't lose race, will be
lost. The sure thing...
won't be. You'
ll have a
momentary lapse and
forget your lines. A
relationship will go
sour...
In short, things will
occasionally go bad;
they just will .
How you react to the
"failures" that
shouldn't have occurred,
is infinitely more
important than the fact
that you did everything
right.
Failures are an
unfortunate fact of
business and life! They
will happen... Get used
to it and get over it.
NO EXCUSES!
Many people, after
having done everything
right, but nevertheless
experienced failure, use
that experience as an
excuse to fold.
Instead of using that
experience to learn,
improve and do it again
(even better), they
make excuses
to bow
out and quit. They
say to themselves:
* "Why does this
always happen to me"
* "It's no use!"
* "It just won't
work"
* "I' m just no
good with people"
* "I'll always be
alone"
*
or any of a hundred
other self sabotaging
thoughts.
They
often quit the business
or withdraw from life.
They stop trying, not
realizing that
occasional failures are
simply a part of the
natural order of things.
Remember, the success
process is universal...
Fail. Learn.
Try again. Fail.
Learn more. Do
again. SUCCEED.

IT's A JOURNEY
In your journey to
personal and economic
success, failure is
every bit as certain, as
falling is to the child
learning to walk...
It's going to happen!
Likewise, if you
are human... You
will have set
backs.
They are part of the
human journey.
Expect them. Acknowledge
them. Learn from them.
Get Over them.
Sometimes you will
Fall... What's important
is that you get back up.
If you
want to succeed in
anything, you must be
willing to fail, learn
to do it better and try
again.
Failure is nothing to be
afraid of. Embrace it.
Learn from it.
Then do it again
until you get it right!
Get rid of excuses...
Deal with the present,
focus on the future and
forget the past!
The
last thing that I want
say is that you can do
this. You can improve
your life and achieve a
greater degree of
success in anything you
choose. Whether it's ASN
or any other business or
opportunity... You can
do it. There are
many good companies with
good potential.
However, regardless
of the potential of any
opportunity,
what determines your
degree of success (or
failure), is not simply
the company or the road
you choose... It's the
attitude you carry.
Where you are today is
irrelevant.
The
only thing relevant and
important is where you
want to go, and what you
are willing to do to get
there.
I
